Questions

Why do 1 GB and 1 GiB give different byte counts?

They're different units. 1 GB is 1,000,000,000 bytes. 1 GiB is 1,073,741,824 bytes, about 7% more. Drive makers use GB, and Windows shows GiB but labels it GB, which is why a new drive looks smaller than advertised.

What does a number with no unit mean?

Bytes. "500000000" is the same as "500000000 B".

Why does a result show as 0?

Results show up to 4 decimal places, so a tiny value in a huge unit rounds to 0. The exact value is still in the byte count and the smaller units.

Does it convert bits, like Mbps?

No. This tool is for storage sizes in bytes. Network speeds use bits per second, which it doesn't cover.
