Questions
Can I get the changes as a JSON Patch?
Yes. Copy JSON Patch gives RFC 6902 operations (add, remove, replace) that turn the original into the changed document. Paths are JSON Pointers and big numbers keep every digit.
Does key order matter?
No. {"a":1,"b":2} and {"b":2,"a":1} are the same data, so they show no differences. Spacing and line breaks are ignored too.
How are arrays compared?
Item by item, by position. An item inserted at the start therefore shows every later item as changed. For a line-by-line view, use Text Diff with "JSON by content".
What do the colors mean?
Red lines marked - are only in the original, and green lines marked + are only in the changed document. A changed value shows as its old line in red above its new line in green. Plain lines are the same in both.
Why is 1 the same as 1.0 but a big ID is different?
Numbers are compared by their exact value, not their spelling, so 1, 1.0 and 1e0 match. Large numbers keep every digit, so two 19-digit IDs that JavaScript would round to the same value still show as different.
Is my JSON uploaded?
No. Both documents are compared in your browser.
