How do I convert an image to Base64?
Click "Choose image…" and pick a file, or drop it on the input. It's read in your browser and turned into a data URI you can copy. Nothing is uploaded.
What format does the input need to be in?
A full data URI, like data:image/png;base64,…. That's what the "Choose image…" button produces and what <img src> and CSS url() expect. Bare Base64 without the prefix is rejected, because the tool can't know what type of file it is. For bare Base64, use the Base64 tool, which recognises files by their bytes.
Why do the dimensions appear a moment later?
The type and size come from the text itself. Width and height need the image decoded, which takes a moment longer.
How do I save the decoded image?
Right-click the preview (or long-press on a phone) and choose Save image. The Download button saves the text summary, not the image.
